Krakow Guide: Travel
The tradition of producing salt in the area of Wieliczka was born around 5000 years ago when Neolithic people living there obtained salt thanks to the procedure of boiling salines since the salt springs were in the proximity of the earth surface.
The main advantage of Krakow’s airport is its suburbian location, not far from the city centre.
The John Paul II Airport handles regular international flights provided by 18 flight companies.
There are also many low cost companies flying to Krakow and some charter flights during peak season..
Although in 2005 Poland joined European Community, it still holds its local currency which is Złoty (that can be translates as: Golden) and equals one hundred grosz (groshes).
1 Zł or 1 PLN = 100 gr.
There are plans to change the currency to Euro in the near future, but recently postponed at least till 2012.
