Wadowice :
1920 May – 18th birth in house Market Square 2 , flat 4 (nowadays ul.Kościelna 4)
1920 June – 20th baptizing in church of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
1926 -1930 – four classes of elementary school for boys (now building of Town Council)
1929 April – dies his mother
1930 -1938 – seven classes of secondary school for boys at Marcin Wadowita Gimnasium
during the shool years they used to eat the famous cake
1932 December 4th – dies his brother Edmund
1938 May 14th – high school finals ( matura)
1938 June 20th – July 17th – serves in the 7th Battalion of the 9th Company of Young
Men’s Brigade in Zubrzyca Górna
1938 Summer – together with his father moves to Cracow

Cracow :

1938 -1944 – lives at Tyniecka Street 10
1938 September – begins studies of Polish Literature (Faculty of Philosophy) at
Jagiellonian University (UJ)
1939 November – Germans arrest the professors of the Jagiellonian University,
the liquidation
1939 -1946 – during the war Wojtyla attends the ‘underground’ university
led by remain UJ teachers
1940 – 1944 – a worker for ‘Solvay’ chemical plant
1941 February 17th – dies his father
1942 -1946 – a seminarist of the conspirational Seminary of the Archdiocese of Cracow
1946 November 1st – ordained a priest
1946 November 2nd – first mass service in St.Leonard’s crypt , Wawel Cathedral
1946 November 3rd – first public ‘primate’ mass service in salesians church
of st.Stanisław Kostka , Dębniki
1946 -1948 – study at Papal ‘Angelicum’ in Rome
1948 July 28th – 1949 March assistant pastor at Niegowić
( a small village near Cracow)
1948 December 16th doctor of theology at Jagiellonian University
1949 – 1951 – assistant pastor at St.Florian church in Cracow
1951 – moved to St.Catherine church, works with youths
1953 December 3rd – becomes assistant-professor of ethics and moral theology at UJ
1954-1978 – lectures and seminars at Lublin Catholic Univerity
1958 September 28th – bishop’s consecration
1964 January 18th – becomes the Cracow Metropolitan Archbishop
1964 March 8th – ingress to the Wawel Archicathedral
1967 June 28th – member of College of Cardinals
1978 October 16th – becomes the Pope John Paul II
