Krakow Airport

The main advantage of Krakow’s airport is its suburbian location, not far from the city centre.
The John Paul II Airport handles regular international flights provided by 18 flight companies.
There are also many low cost companies flying to Krakow and some charter flights during peak season..

You can come here from:

UK - London, Birmingham, Liverpool and East Midlands and from Edinburgh and Glasgow
Ireland - Dublin and Shannon
Austria - Vienna,
Germany - Frankfurt, Munich and Dortmund
Norway - Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger
Sweden - Stockholm
Czech Republic - Prague
Belgium - Brussels
France - Paris
Italy - Milan
Spain - Madrid
Israel - Tel Aviv
USA - Chicago

From 31th March of 2009 there will be possible to come to Krakow flying from Forli Airport (Italy).
From 16th of April of 2009 from Athens (Greece).
From 25th April of 2009 from Berlin.
From 4th June of 2009 there will be possible to come to Krakow from Reykjavik (Iceland).

In 2008 2 923 961 passengers used Krakow Airport that is a little bit less than in 2007 (3 068 199 passengers).
Anyway it is still first regional airport in Poland (the second one is Katowice - Pyrzowice Airport).

The international terminal called T1 is not very modern, instead the domestic one (T2) is brand new.
From July 2009 there will be a five - store parking place in front of the Terminal 1 so there will be no problem with arriving by car to the airport.

How to get to the centre

There is a train operating from Kraków Main Station (Kraków Dworzec Główny). Trains leave from platform 1 (but please check it before entering the train:)))))))) and the journey by train takes 16 minutes. The first train starts from Kraków at 4.00 am and till 7.00 am there is only one train every hour. From 7 am til 10 pm there are trains every thirty minutes, and later there are trains at: 10 pm, 11pm and 11.30 pm.
The return trains from Kraków Airport to Kraków Main Station: 0.10 am, from 4.24 am to 7.24 am every hour, from 7.54 to 9.24 pm every thirty minutes and later there are trains at 10.24 pm and 11.24 pm.
The train stop is about 200 meters from Teminal 1 - anyway there is a Shuttle Bus waiting always when the train arrives so you can’t miss it. The Shuttle Bus stops first at Terminal 2 (Domestic Flights) and later on at Terminal 1 (International Flights).
In few years the train will arrive much closer to both Terminals and there will be no need of Shuttle Bus.

You can also take a bus number 208 or 292 to get out of the Airport. Anyway If you go to the city center it is much better and faster to take a train.

There are always some taxis waiting in front of the terminal. The cost is c.a. 55 ZŁ ( but night and weekend fares are higher).
