Now in the exhibition you can see the place of Matejko’s birth the documents of his adult life, and also the bed in the room where he died.

Matejko created his paintings when Poland has been split into three countries, and through his works he wanted to remind Poles the most glorious moments from the past.

There is an original studio with artist’s palette, brushes and painting tools, with large numbers of preparation sketches. For his historical paintings the artist copied the original items from the past,in the museum you can see the part of his vast collection of robes, clothes, jewelry which you can recognize on his paintings. There also some medieval tools for torture (
used as models ) bought once by Matejko from destroyed prison in Town Hall Tower.
