1734 – last Royal coronation in the Wawel Cathedral

1794 – insurrection organized by Kościuszko against Russians

1795 – the third and the last partition of Poland, Prussian troops arrive to Krakow

1797 – Austrians replace Prussians

19th century beginning of – decision to demolish old city walls, the small part is left nowadays

1815 – taken during Vienna Congress decision to create Free City of Krakow that lasted till 1846

1855 – great fire that lasts ten days and causes destruction of 160 houses, 4 churches and two convents

1866 – Joseph Dietl becomes first Krakow president and promotes the construction of aqueducts, schools, houses for poor people and orphans

1879 – opening of National Museum in the Cloth Hall

1893 – inauguration of Slowacki Theatre
